Question & Features

Hi everyone!

Does anyone use Corel PSP X2 to do all of their manipulating? That's what I used when I did my first manipulation but it seems most people use Photoshop. I have it, I'm just not very well versed in it...At All...:giggle: I'm just wondering if it's possible to make the kind of art that you all make with a lesser program like Corel...Give me hope! :D

On to the features!

Don't know anything about Corel, sorry. I had GIMP first, and then PS.
Btw - I think you have awesome taste in manips. I very much love those selections. :)

I only use Corel PSPX. I can not afford photoshop and I find that if I take the time, now that I know the program, I can do many of the same things that you can in photoshop. There are some things you can't do in my version like certain filters, the brush tips like the famous photoshop leaf, and the actions that photoshop has now. While I would love to have photoshop I have found that it does not hamper my creativity.

I found that if someone makes a photoshop brush and they are willing to give you an image pack (which many do) you can make your own brushes. There are some great deviants out there who are more than happy to do this if they don't already have it set up separately. All you have to do is ask.

Feel free to peek at my work and see if it gives you hope. I am rather proud of my pieces so far. If you ever have a question, feel free to drop me a note. If I can help in anyway I will be more than happy to pass a few things along. People did the same for me when I first started last year and I set off down the lovely road I am now on.

By the way... I saw your first manipulation... you are already off to a great start. You have a good eye for texture and matching up the light. You blended all your elements well and made a beautiful piece. You will do quite well!

The only way creativity is wasted is if it is not used. There are no rights or wrongs. There are no imperfections, no limits, no rules. One must simply use the talents one has to the utmost to be a success.
Thank you for the feature
photoshop is the water i drink! can't live without it!
thanks for the feature! :) :)

I've actually never heard of Corel. I use photoshop for my stuff (I started out with PS7 and now I have CS2).

And don't worry about not knowing much about photoshop. I taught myself to use photoshop through opening images and then simply playing with them and also through reading some tutorials here and there found on deviantART. and with lots of practice, I've gotten pretty good with photoshop!

So if you decide to start using photoshop, open a picture, click on and push as many buttons as you can and play with the tools until you find out what they do and if you can't figure it out, see if there is an online tutorial about it.
The things I had to remember when I first started photoshop was that you will not ruin your program or computer (just your picture), and there is an undo button :D
I really dont know. I have heard of Corel but I dont know anytihing about it.
I work with photoshop CS3 and I just love it!
